136.700 for ARINC in USA

Sergio Sarabia

It seems that the frequency 136.700 for ARINC has been added. In FCC they have the Status: Pending and same Emission Designator 14K0G1D as VDL2.
If someone can confirm or shed some light if this frequency is already active in these airports.

Hi Sergio,

Yesterday after your post I added 136.700 and will monitor the SE USA for any new activity.

KCHS is 378 nm away and I get a very small number of messages from there each month.  If ARINC 136.700 is anything like 136.650 I would also expect to see traffic attempting contact on the new frequency when they are sometimes well outside of range.

I also looked at FCC license data and those "pending" applications are much more difficult to search for!

Thanks,

-Dan

Sergio Sarabia

Well, at the moment they are only licensed at these airports: KPAE KBFI KICT KIXD KCID KGSO KCHS, but they may not be activated yet.

Sergio,

Thanks for the heads up, I had not noticed those pending licences on 136.700. I just added it and happened to be in the area. Got these GSIFs but didn't get any aircraft using them yet.

Thanks JetDX and Sergio.  Positive confirmation of a new USA frequency makes these two GSIF the most significant I have seen in a long time.  I think you just made Sergio's day!

Dick

Just added these two 136.700 GSIF's and 220458 KDAB to both databases.
Will add this freq to the ones I monitor in Europe, just in case.
Let's hope we can add a 136.825 GSIF this year as well..

Cheers, Dick

Sergio Sarabia

Thank you, they will be traffic soon.

Sergio Sarabia

So is. Thank you all.

Sergio Sarabia

Dick I do not think that 136.700 is used in Europe, Europe is currently served.

I agree, but some of use thought that 136.825 wasn't used either and suddenly it was. ;-)
And to let dumpvdl2 or vdlm2dec monitor an additional frequency is extremely easy..

Cheers, Dick

136.700 would be too close to 136.725. In Europe, 136.825 was reserved for a long time, but it has not been used until now, although its use is not strictly the one used below:

136.725 VDL2 (ARINC) TRM Europe
136.775 VDL2 (SITA)  ENR Europe
136.825 VDL2 (ARINC) ENR Europe
136.875 VDL2 (SITA)  TRM Europe

ENR En-route area traffic
TRM Terminal area traffic

Hi all,

Since Sergio spotted 136.700 a few days ago I have been wondering if the GS hex would use an assignment pattern like they do for their 136.650 stations.  It looks like the answer is either no or not as obvious as the 136.650 pattern.

USA ARINC:
10xxxx 136.975
11xxxx 136.650

Here are some of my "local" examples:

1014BA [KLIT Little Rock AR]
1114BA [KLIT Little Rock AR - 136.650]

10306A [KMSY New Orleans Intl LA]
11306A [KMSY New Orleans Intl LA - 136.650]

10341A [KBNA Nashville Intl TN]
11341A [KBNA Nashville Intl TN - 136.650]
10464A [KBNA Nashville Intl TN]

1034BA [KJAN Jackson Intl MS]
1134BA [KJAN Jackson Intl MS - 136.650]

10495A [KATL Atlanta Intl AL]
10550A [KATL Atlanta Intl AL]
11495A [KATL Atlanta Intl AL - 136.650]

-----

The two new 136.700 GS look like this:

101C3A [KGSO Piedmont Triad Intl Greensboro NC]
105854 [KGSO Piedmont Triad Intl Greensboro NC - 136.700 ***]

101C4A [KCHS Charleston AFB Intl SC]
105844 [KCHS Charleston AFB Intl SC - 136.700 ***]

Just looking for patterns: (I don't see any.)

105854 hex
- 101C3A hex
--------
3C1A hex (15386 dec, 36032 octal)

105844 hex
- 101C4A hex
-------
3BFA hex  (15354 dec, 35772 octal)

USA ARINC:
10xxxx 136.975
11xxxx 136.650
Minor update.  These two new ones are the first ARINC in the database ending in 4.

USA ARINC:
10xxxA 136.975  "A" ending with a few exceptions.
11xxxA 136.650
10xxx4 136.700  "4" ending so far.

With 7 new pending locations and the "4" ending this might be what we see.  Just a guess, of course.
105814
105824
105834
105844 [KCHS Charleston AFB Intl SC - 136.700 ***]
105854 [KGSO Piedmont Triad Intl Greensboro NC - 136.700 ***]
105864
105874

Perhaps:

101C0A KBFI WA 105884
101C1A KPAE WA 105874
101C2A KDVT AZ 105864 <<< none 136.700
101C3A KGSO NC 105854-
101C4A KCHS SC 105844-
10???A KIXD KS 105834 <<< could be 103C0A ?
103C1A KICT KS 105824
103C2A KSAV GA 105814 <<< none 136.700
103C3A KCID IA 105804

Sergio Sarabia

A new license for KDVT and a second license for KPAE and KBFI:

KDVT Phoenix Deer Valley City: PHOENIX, AZ County: MARICOPA Coordinates: 33° 41' 5.3" N, 112° 5' 33.6" W
KPAE Snohomish County City: Everett, WA County: SNOHOMISH Coordinates: 47° 55' 30.9" N, 122° 16' 20.1" W
KBFI Boeing King County International City: Seattle, WA County: KING Coordinates: 47° 31' 56.5" N, 122° 18' 40.9" W

At the moment there are already 10 GS for 136.700.

David Stark

I just did a ~24 hour monitoring session on 136.700 from the KALB area.  So far, no traffic on the channel over the northeastern USA.

-Dave, NF2G

Sergio Sarabia

Dave, for now they are only present in KPAE, KBFI, KICT, KIXD, KCID, KGSO, KCHS and KDVT.

Sergio Sarabia

Hi Dave, there is a new license for KALB Albany at 136,650 and it must be safely 11349A. Please observe from time to time and let me know if it appears active.

JetDX

I can get some KALB traffic here, so far nothing on 11349A. On October 20th I did notice KBOS on 1134DA for the first time.

I meant November 20th in the post below. And speaking of 136.700 still no aircraft data seen, although it's used as a busy voice frequency for airline ops in Toronto (YYZ) so I guess they will have to figure that out before they start using it for VDL2 in the northeast USA near the border ?
