J-AERO Bad CRC #JAERO

Hi.
I'm new on JAERO decoding.
1 - I received lot or Bad CRC frame
2 - rare transmissions had plane coordinates

Volume, Signal and Data are green  signal is about 15 db over noise

Hi Gilles,

First, don't worry about the CRC frames, I get them as well but still get messages ok.

I'm not sure if you're receiving L band or C band, if it's L band you won' get any aircraft coordinates - if you mean position coordinates, these are only on C band.

If its L band you should get messages such as weather reports and airport information and sometimes flight clearances.
The 600bps and 1200bps channels are a bit slow - try different channels to find the best for traffic, also give the 10500bps channels a go, plenty of data on those.

If you're monitoring Alphasat, then try 1545.213 (600bps), some traffic on there at the moment including a USAF C5M, KC-135R and a couple of C17's

Hi Paul,

Thank's very much!  I have lot of thing to learn !

You are right, I'm on L-Band. I haven't catch this difference.

C-Band reception's is not a great chalenge, L-Band is on 3.5 Ghz, L-Band LNB and a dish will requiered. I will check.

Alphasat is over the Europe ?  - I'm living in North-America.

Thank you again for your help,

Gilles

Hi, Gilles

Yes, Alphasat is over Europe, 25 deg.East. you can probably receive 3F5 at 54deg West from your location, much the same applies, the 600 and 1200 bps channels are slow but do contain USAF traffic if that's your interest.

I'm receiving the C band data from 3F5 with a 1.1m dish and a Titanium LNB )although I would recommend a larger dish if you can get one) - receives traffic crossing the Atlantic

Hi

For anyone unsure about where the Inmarsats are , this graphic

https://i.postimg.cc/FR6DXqXg/worldview-A.png

shows their location and also the areas of coverage for each one.

The coloured aircraft tracks are those created in PlanePlotter , C band network , over a 24 hour period .....each colour represents a Ground Earth Station [ GES ].

Hope this helps

Regards

John

Hi Tony,

Sure, I accept your help !

Yes I live in Canada, near Sherbrooke, Qc

No, I haven't a C-Band dish for now, but I can buy one.

You write : get 54 west and 97.5 and 99 west let me know

I'm a little bit confused about what satellite I need to use.

98 W is 4F3

54 W is 3F5

What are 97.5 and 99 west ?

Gilles
